A month later than any season in the OVC Ball Era, (of four years now…) the first of the 12 Ohio Valley Conference basketball scheduled has been released, which means we can finally continue our tradition of breaking down those schedules.

First up, here’s the slate.

Thoughts

Well, it’s a schedule. If you’re new to these, there are a few things I really look for – quality road games that fans can travel to, and great home games. Austin Peay has the former. They don’t really have the latter.

Austin Peay has just five home games before conference play begins, and two of those are non Division-I opponents. Even worse – you have to wait til December for four of those home games. From a fan-centric point of view, it’s nothing to get overly excited about.

The road slate is much better. You can easily head to Bowling Green, or Nashville, and making the trip to Ole Miss is far from out of the question. There’s no overbearing money game that you have no chance of winning, and a lot of solid opposition.

Road Trip to make

Thanksgiving in Vegas? Thanksgiving in Vegas. It’s something you might want to start saving for, but the Governors trip to Las Vegas are against winnable opponents, and it’s VEGAS, baby!

Sorry…

Don’t waste your money…

You’re going to fool yourself into thinking you want to see Berea. First regular season home game? Next home game isn’t for nearly a month? Spend a few bucks on gas and hit the season opener at Western instead.
