One more QB battle has reached it’s end for Week one. Murray State has named senior C.J. Bennett as their Week 1 starter against Union College.
Bennett beat out redshirt sophomore KD Humphries for the starting role. Humphries sat our last year, after serving as Casey Brockman‘s backup as a freshman.
Bennett, on the other hand, has only thrown one pass as a Racer. Bennett transferred to Murray State from South Alabama, where he played in sixteen games as a freshman and sophomore — but saw his snaps fall as his career move forward.
The senior takes over a “Hatch Attack” that struggled, in comparison, to produce the same explosive offense it was known for under Brockman. The Racers were still third in the conference in offensive production a year ago, but produced nearly 200-yards fewer a game than league-leading Eastern Illinois.
