We love receiving interesting reports from OVC Nation. On Saturday, Jacksonville State alumnus David Mize attended JSU’s last scrimmage of the preseason.

Mize sent us a photograph of the scrimmage along with a few comments about the quarterbacks. “Eli Jenkins looks 100% better than last year going through his progression and making reads,” Mize said. “[Jenkins] is making more accurate throws, too.”

Mize added Kyle West has matured in the pocket as well. This is an interesting observation considering he was left off the depth chart. West made a few starts last year due to injuries, and it seems he is making the most of his opportunities.

All of this competition at such a vital position is a sign Coach John Grass knows how to get the most out of his players. The results on the field have already impressed one fan.

Update: Quarterback Jayce Barber has transferred to Southeastern University. The mention of him in this article has been removed. Thanks to @jsualumnus for the tip.
