Tennessee Tech opens up its 2014 campaign under the lights at Tucker Stadium on August 28th against the Kentucky Christian Knights of the NAIA. The Golden Eagles are coming off a 5-7 campaign in 2013, and the Knights are coming off a 3-8 campaign. This game looks to serve as a tune-up game for the Golden Eagles as well as to fire up the new freshmen, as the first game typically is the “Running of The Freshmen” at Tennessee Tech.
The Knights come down south to Cookeville with ulterior motives however, as Tennessee Tech will be Kentucky Christian’s first Division I FCS opponent. Kentucky Christian scheduled this game to aid recruiting efforts in the state of Tennessee. According to KCU’s recruiting coordinator James “Hoot” Gibson ““We have a bunch of kids from Tennessee and a few coaches who are from or coached high school ball in Tennessee so this is a big game for our team and for recruiting.”
The Knights are coached by head coach Gene Peterson, on the opposite sideline for the Golden Eagles, head coach Watson Brown.
Darian Stone is projected to be the starting quarterback to open the season for Coach Brown’s squad.
The game is on August 28th at 8:00 PM at Tucker Stadium in Cookeville.
