The Utah Jazz have exercised their team option on former Belmont University men’s basketball All-American guard Ian Clark for the 2014-15 season.
The decision guarantees Clark’s contract for the upcoming NBA campaign.
Clark, whose exploits in 2013 NBA Summer League made him a national sensation and helped earn him a roster spot on the Jazz, shot 50 percent from behind the arc this year in Vegas NBA Summer League, averaging 8.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game as part of Utah’s youthful guard rotation which includes Trey Burke and Dante Exum.
The Memphis, Tenn. native appeared in 23 games for the Jazz this past season, averaging 3.0 points per game on 36 percent three-point shooting.
Clark stands as Belmont’s NCAA-era career leader in points (1920) and three-point field goals (340).
