According to multiple sources, (including retweets from the player himself) Cletrell Pope, a 6’6 high-school senior from Alabama, has verbally committed to Murray State. Pope currently plays for Tuscaloosa County High School.
“Murray State has a winning tradition and I really liked that,” he told the website Racer Insider. “I also like the team and the coaches.”
Pope spent last year at Sunshine High School, where he was named an all-state selection. None of the major recruiting services (Rivals, Scout or ESPN) have rated Pope, but other services have him as a top-10 forward in the state of Alabama. Future 150 had a mixed review of Pope, saying he “has tons of upside as a prospect. He has great length and athleticism, but he has plenty of room to add more weight and muscle. He isn’t very skilled at this point, but he shoots the mid-range well. He also uses his length to rebound the ball.”
Pope was also recruited by UAB.
