Tennessee Tech heads west to play USC. A look a the matchup inside the numbers

The Good

76-68It’s USC’s second “buy” game of the year, and the first didn’t exactly go the way the Trojans expected. Portland State upset USC on the road, 76-68, thanks in part to just a +19 turnover margin. USC shot 53%, held Portland State to 39%, but couldn’t overcome 23 turnovers, to just four for the Vikings.

80%In Tennessee Tech’s two exhibition games (…one technically may count, but they’ve played two exhibition games) Dwan Caldwell is 12-15 from the field. Regardless of the competition, that’s a high number.

The Bad

26.7%Tennessee Tech struggled shooting the three in their second exhibition game, hitting just 4-15 from behind the arc. The Golden Eagles were just 32.6% shooters from deep last year, and it doesn’t appear that will be a strength of TTU this year either.

The !?*#%!$@

36:09It’s one thing for a team like USC to lose to Portland State — mid-major’s beat power 5 teams all the time. The Trojans were dominated, trailing for more than 36 minutes.
