SIUE’s schedule ramps up in difficulty as the Cougars host IPFW Monday. A look at the matchup by the numbers

The Good

12SIUE hit 12 three-pointers in their season opening with against NAIA Harris-Stowe. Last season, the Cougars were 3-1 in games they hit 10 or more threes, losing only to Southeast Missouri after an 11-28 performance from behind the arc.

76.9%The Cougars had the touch at the charity stripe, hitting going 20-26 from the free-throw line. The 26 free-throws came after drawing 21 fouls. The bad news: Harris-Stowe had more free-throw attempts, 32, thanks to 26 SIUE fouls.

The Bad

4While it was a lower-division team, IPFW only allowed four offensive rebounds off of 30-missed shots against Manchester. SIUE had a -2.9 rebounding margin per game last year, and allowed their lower division opponent 17 offensive rebounds off of 44 misses.

53.5%IPFW took more than half of their shots in their season opening win against a lower division team from behind the three-point arc. They’re weren’t exactly hot from there, though, hitting just 9-30 (30%) from deep in the win.
