Tennessee Tech cruised to an easy 83-29 victory over Piedmont International Friday night in the Eblen Center, holding Piedmont to 15.1 percent shooting from the floor, allowing just eight buckets all night.
Four Golden Eagles scored in double-figures, and 12 Golden Eagles players saw significant minutes in a game that was far from ever in doubt. TTU pulled down 61 rebounds, but did commit 14 turnovers. TTU hit 45% from the field on the night, but were chilly from outside, sinking just 4-15 three’s.
Malik Milton lead Piedmont with 13 points on 3-13 shooting from the field, as the Bruins were held well under their season average of 88.5 points a game. (Seriously — that’s their average. I looked it up)
Piedmont International comes from the same league, the NCCAA, as Crowley Ridge, a program TTU beat two years ago in their season opener 107-32. TTU is now 40-1 in home openers since 1974.
TTU will almost certainly give up more than 29 points when they travel to USC on Monday.
