We want you!
Really, we do.
As we begin preparing for the 2014-15 seasons across the Ohio Valley Conference, we’re looking for talented writers, photographers, even graphic artists or web programmers to join our team. What do we offer? Glad you asked.
Cover your team, your way
We’re not going to assign you a school or sport you don’t want to follow. Want to write about Tennessee Tech? Great. UT Martin? Sure. We’ll take up to two writers per team, so odds are there’s an opening just for you.
No experience needed
Never written for a publication before? That’s not a problem. As long as you can show good writing skills, (spelling, proper grammar) you’re wanted here.
When you write for us, you’re eligible for media credentials, the same as any newspaper writer or television crew. You can talk to select players and coaches after the game, with the same level of access as other media members. It’s a great way to build relationships not only with coaches, but other media members as well, which can pay off big when you’re looking to make this into a profession.
…Or, be a fan
If you want to root for your team in the stands instead of sitting calmly in the press box, that’s fine by us as well. There’s no need to temper your excitement for your team.
If you’re looking to have a career in sport writing, photography, or even media relations, you’re in luck. We have more than ten years of professional media experience, and can help develop your skills a notch above many standard college programs alone. Not to mention — our site is great for hosting your resume material.
Unlike many sports site out there that rely on fans like yourself for content, there’s no commitment or deadlines to write for us. You write when you can. Have a big test coming up you need to study for? Or just need a good night out? We’re not going to question it. You write on your schedule.
Have your opinion heard
What makes OVC Ball great is that we’re not just a news organization. If you have strong opinions about the conference, or the direction of your team, we can provide a sounding board for your opinions, beyond you school’s message board.
