Living in Buffalo, I’ve spent more time following the Tom Brady ‘deflategate’ mess than I’d like to admit. It appears that case is at it’s end.

The US Court of appeals refused to reconsidered a decision that reinstated Tom Brady’s four-game suspension, which means barring an unlikely intervention by the US Supreme Court, Brady will sit out the first four weeks of the 2016 NFL season.

That means we’ll get our first real look at former Eastern Illinois quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

Garoppolo was selected in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft, ans has played in 11 regular season games as Brady’s backup…although he’s thrown just 31 passes.

The schedule is more friendly than unfriendly in those opening weeks: after a tough season opener on the road against the Cardinals, the Patriots host the Dolphins, Texans, and Bills.

Offseason headlines from New England have positive reviews of Garoppolo’s leadership.

As a senior at EIU, Garoppolo broke Tony Romo’s records for career passing touchdownds, yards, and passing touchdowns in a season.
