Our thoughts at OVC Ball are with Austin Peay head basketball coach Dave Loos and his family, as the long-time coach recovers from surgery for a malignant tumor.

According to an update from the team’s official twitter account, a recent medical exam discovered the malignant tumor on Loos’ colon. The tumor was successfully removed at St. Thomas Medical Center in Nashville, but had spread to a lymph node.

Loos will now undergo chemotherapy treatments, but is expected to make a full recovery, and be back on the sideline this fall.

Assistant coach Jay Bowen will lead the program on a day-to-day basis in the interim. Loos will “be as involved as possible,” according to the statement, until he can return full time.

Loos…is expected to make a full recovery, and be back on the sideline this fall.
